| Link to Mexican Culture |
Today we went into town to see the festivities of " The Virgin of Guadalupe Goddess of the Americas" with Kathy and her two girls. Unfortunately Jamie was sick and her boys well they are still not wanting to go anywhere after being gone for "so long" ( still recovering from their visit to the USA)
It is a very interesting story about The Virgin of Guadalupe Goddess of the Americas.
In Mexico they seem to worship her like a "God"and the story spans all the way back to the 1500's here is a link to the story. Im not sure where the 10 commandments fits into all this with the "no other gods before me part." but it was very Educational even teaching that part to the kids.

All the little towns and villages that don't have a large church around Playa have a shrine they make including a statue of Guadalupe and painting of three hills and a horse. After they have a bunch of community members run all the way into Playa (or other town where the church is) behind the shrine in a truck while they fire off flares and fireworks.
This year it was raining a lot so they where still out running getting soaked.
We looked at all the different shrines brought by each town then went into the church to See all the flowers and Candles left for the Virgin.
The Church had beautiful stained glass windows with the birth of the Savior high up in the tower.
After we looked around we went to Puerto Morelos (a town 20 min outside of Cancun)
to look around.
